USA Election
Following on from our esteemed dunadan's example I tried out the Electoral Compass and ended up with the same result as he -nearest to Bill Richardson and furthest from Fred Thompson. Which is just as well as apparently it puts me in the traditional camp and that's where I'm solidly based. Mind you I did not understand the significance of the figures relating to each candidate so it is just as well they said where I stood - or sat.

On an entirely different matter, i have been puzzling over Nero and the fiddle... is there a significance i am not aware of??! I know they say a joke explained is a joke ruined, but i like to understand these things!!!
Oh dear, as they say, didn't they teach you anything at school?! Tradition has it that the Emperor Nero played the violin (the fiddle) while Rome was burning (Some 16/1700 yerars before the instrument was invented). Further to be on the fiddle is to cheat the authorities in order to gain pecuniary (look it up in the dictionary) advantage. The joke therefore was a pun.
Well i have learnt something new! How could we manage any Nero at school when we were learning about world war 2, world war 2 and err...world war 2?!
Hevs,
If you need some Roman education, just let me know! I can also slip in Alexander the Great for free!
